Leading payments provider Visa has released a set of beta-APIs under its Visa Next platform.

The APIs will allow on-demand digital payment accounts that seamlessly combine multiple digital services, with the aim of changing the way users access and manage funds.

It will also be easier to use digital tokens, with users able to activate or tokenise digital accounts for ecommerce or mobile wallets.

The Visa Next platform will also allow the delivery of data about transactions in real time.

Visa hopes that its use of APIs will “bring to life the next generation of digital-first payments”.

Sam Shrauger, a Senior Vice President at Visa, explained some potential use cases for Visa Next. “Imaging if parents could instantly create a Visa card on their mobile device and send it to their child’s phone for immediate use… they could also set parameters around where, when, even how long the child can use this card – and adjust these controls at any time via their own mobile device.”
